The Aethernauts

AnimationPosted by Frederico Penteado Sat, October 05, 2013 04:53:37
Still from my forthcoming animated short film, “The Aethernauts”. “Aether”, a classical element in ancient and medieval science, a material that fills the universe above the terrestrial sphere and where gods and heavenly bodies reside, and “naut”, from the Ancient Greek “nautes” meaning “sailor” or “navigator”, as in astronaut or cosmonaut. The film is set in a dystopic environment, seemingly in the future and where “The Aethernauts” live and travel. These bizarre, yet knowingly characters, perhaps only travel in their imagination, their inner world, and they could be seen as a metaphor of the non-conformist, the day dreamer, the excluded and exiled, the Artist itself eventually. (Camera: Armelle Burke)

Melanchotrone, a short animation, this time combining acrylic on canvas (in fact, my painting "Fall") and digital paint. The soundtrack is by Jorge Lima Barreto, the great experimental musician that died about a month ago.

ToBeOrNot
, my most recent experiment in stop motion animation with acrylic paint. The soundtrack is my selection of an excerpt of Pierre Schaeffer, the genial father of concrete music.
